Functions and Objectives
| A.FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT AND OBJECTIVES | ||||||||||
| a. | Formulate measures for the approval of the Sanggunian and provided technical assistance and support to the Mayor in carrying out measures to ensure the delivery of basic services and provisions of adequate facilities relative to social welfare an development. | |||||||||
| b. | Develop Plans and strategies and upon approval thereof by the mayor implement the same particularly those which have to do with social welfare programs and projects which the Mayor is empowered to implement and which the Sanggunian is empowered to provide for under this code. | |||||||||
| c. | Be in the front line of services deliver, particularly those which have to do with immediate relief during and assistance in the aftermath of man-made and natural calamities. | |||||||||
| d. | Recommend to the Sanggunian and advice the mayor on all matters related to social welfare and development services which will provide the livelihood and improve the living conditions of the inhabitants. | |||||||||
| Implement the following duties: | ||||||||||
| • | Identify the basic needs of the needy, the disadvantages and the impoverished and develop and implement appropriate measure to alleviate their problems and improve their living condition. | |||||||||
| • | Provide relief and appropriate crisis intervention for victims of abuse and exploitation and recommend appropriate measure to deter further abuse and exploitation. | |||||||||
| • | Assist the mayor in implementing the barangay level program for the development and protection of children up to six (6) years of age. | |||||||||
| • | Facilitate the implementation of welfare programs for the disabled, elderly, and victims of drug addiction, the rehabilitation of prisoners and paroles, the prevention of juvenile delinquency and such other activities which would eliminate or minimize the ill effects of poverty. | |||||||||
| • | Initiate and support youth welfare programs that will enhance the role of youth in nation building. | |||||||||
| • | Coordinate with the government agencies and non-government organization which have this purpose the promotion and the protection of needy, disadvantaged, under privileged or impoverished groups or individuals, particularly those identified to be vulnerable and high risk to exploitation, abuse and neglect. | |||||||||
| • | Exercise such other powers and perform such other duties and as maybe prescribed by law or ordinances. | |||||||||
| B. OBJECTIVE | ||||||||||
| To assist the clientele groups uplift their present standard of living by developing their capabilities and potentials so they can be self-reliant and participate in national development. | ||||||||||
